The importance of a survey for your:
boiler
installation
A Job worth
doing.....
Tell us about your
needs

Our lead Engineer
Steve suggests..
When you think it
is time to change your boiler what should you be thinking
about.
Price? Make? Model? Suitable? Will it go in
the space I want? Will it do what I need? Will they come back
if there is a problem? These are just a few thoughts you may
have.
Our survey will take you through all these
stages plus any other points you may have. My first plumber I
worked with over twenty years ago taught me to listen to the
client carefully no mater how small there point was. This would
then give you two things. A clear understanding how the
households heating and hot water needs were so you can help
them in the correct decision. And then this in turn builds up
there confidence in you to work what is there
home.
Our survey starts
with the initial phone call we will then confirm date
time to call on you.
On the home visit
we will take you through the stages so that you are as
aware as possible without baffling you with science. For
combination boilers we check the water main, both the
pressure and flow rate to make sure they are adequate.
This is important as in some cases we have attended to
give our opinion when it has been installed, there was no
such check done this then left the client with a shower
he had to run round in to get wet. We will then check the
space the boiler is to go into, and any ideas that you
have to move it to a new location. This incorporates a
survey for the flue route and the direction it will have
to take. With the new condensing boilers now comes
pluming which is the water vapour that you see coming out
of the flue although it is not a health hazard but it can
be a nuisance to your neighbours. We can usually work
around these problems with a plume management kit. These
will divert the pluming away from any direction that
could be a problem. Hot water requirement will also be
taken in consideration as every home has a unique one of
course consideration should be given to any expansion at
a later date to not only a second bathroom but also
importantly the heating requirement.

The systems
controls are at the centre of the installation which
gives you the comfort and most important savings on
running costs especially as gas prices have increased and
long term do not look like getting cheaper. You might
have a time clock that gives you two on/off periods a day
or a full programmer that has up to four on/off periods
that can be different on any day, some even let you delay
the programmer if you are on holiday. Room thermostats
can be straight forward temperature or again fully
programmable. Boiler
installation London will however run this
through with you to get the choices of controls right for
you homes needs. Thermostatic radiator valves are used in
areas that are not controlled by the room thermostat,
this control individually so that for example a bedroom
that is not used often can be set to have a lower
temperature than the hall these to will give you savings.
For your boiler to give you the high efficiency it was
built for it must have the correct amount of gas
available at the boiler, this will some times completely
running a new supply from the gas meter to the boiler,
although to the client it can sometimes be a nuisance it
is on of those parts of an installation that no CORGI
engineer can leave to chance as the new boiler will not
burn correctly and the warranty will be invalid. Flushing
out the system and adding a corrosion inhibitor is also
explained. Finally we will ask you if you have any
questions no mater how small you may think they are we
will be happy to answer them or even get the answer to
them.
